Maria Callas!
What can one say? Maria Callas was a legendary singer, and one who did create some controversy. I, for one, only have the interest in the voice, the art, the delivery and the quality and passion for music making by the artist.
We hear 17 tracks on this CD, and they include arias from some of the following operas:
Tosca, Vissi d’arte
Le nozze di Figaro, K. 492 Porgi amor
Orphée et Eurydice, J’ai perdu mon Eurydice
Aida, Ritorna vincitor!
Adriana Lecouvreur, Ecco: respiro appena…Io son l’umile ancella
Madama Butterfly Un bel di vedremo
Norma, Casta Diva
Turandot, opera Signore, ascolta!
Louise, Depuis le jour
La Bohème, Si, Mi chiamano Mimi
Her singing had Drama, Passion, and the ability to move the listener, even if the listener may not have understood the text.
Here is a recording with excellent audio that explains what I am writing about in terms of Passion!
I really enjoyed Calas singing the Rosini arias; thanks, B
