Of all of Brahms’ chamber music my on-going favorite is the slow movement from his piano quartet in C-minor, Op. 60. Here Johannes Brahms assigns to the cello the role of singing a love song to his own beloved. History tells us that it likely was for pianist Clara Schumann.
