Kiri Te Kanawa!
This is a wonderful concert of Kiri’s celebration of her 50th birthday. You may have seen the original production on PBS. Nice to have it available again as it is very much worth owning and watching again and again. What a career Ms. Te Kanawa has had in bringing great pleasure to her listeners, and the orchestra and chorus are outstanding, as well.
Kiri sings a mix of opera and popular songs, as well as a few songs from La Boheme. Also a Maori group from New Zealand sings several songs. Kiri voice is legendary. I always recall a video of her preparation of Strauss’ 4 Last Songs with conductor Sir Georg Solti.
All in all, this is a lovely collection of music.
