Terfel and Bartoli sing Mozart!!!
Cecillia Bartoli & Bryn Terfel at the Glyndbourne Festival, with the
London Philharmonic Orchestra dir. Myung-Whun Chun
This excellent DVD presents a Glyndebourne concert which was astounding in its quality and sensational in its content! Both Cecilia Bartoli and Bryn Terfel are seen here in their absolute vocal primes, sing material beautifully, and reveal in their engaging, spirited interplay considerable comic acting skills.
The burly, Terfel is the greater surprise in this regard not only because of his unexpectedly witty, highly apt facial expressions but owing to his wonderfully funny, though always consistently graceful acting ability on stage. Bartoli is already widely known for her skill in acting opera’s comic roles, and happily she matches Terfel in their duets, also bringing each of her beautifully sung characters to a fine dramatic life.
I personally will never tire of seeing all this magic!
And if the great singing and acting were not enough, we get to listen to the magnificent London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Myung-Whun Chung.
Here are two samples for your enjoyment:
