Netrebko Arias!

Netrebko’s Debut album!

On occasion a fine debut album from 2003 deserves to be mentioned again:

Anna Netrebko’s debut CD shows us a spectrum of vocal styles and characters. This excellent lyric soprano presents Opera people such as Donna Anna as flesh-and-blood characters in real situations, as Mozart wanted them to be.

Netrebko shows us the interesting aspects not just in Gounod’s “Jewel Song” but particularly in her stunning, passionately sung and beautifully phrased Manon. The Russian repertoire is not included here, probably intentionally. However, Netrebko’s “Song to the Moon” from Dvorak’s Rusalka shows us the mood of this selection with excellent results.
