Schumann: Piano Sonata & Fantasia
Schumann:
- Piano Sonata No. 1 in F sharp minor, Op. 11
- Fantasie in C major, Op. 17
Jin Ju, piano
In my ongoing work to uncover young talent, I am simply amazed at the number of pianists that show so much promise. And the Far East now produces a goodly number of these performers who are showing up to impress us with their capabilities.
Jin Ju was known as an exceptional keyboard performer even prior to her performance for Pope Benedict XVI which was broadcast worldwide. She lives in Florence, and her imaginative and impassioned interpretations are very impressive. She presents emotionally subtle and powerfully energetic performances of Schumann’s compositions. Schumann was a highly emotional person, and in his short lifetime, he communicated a lot of this emotions via the few compositions that he left us before he died at age 42.
Here is Jin Ju, performing Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2. Just take a look at all the risks that this performer is taking!
