Gubaidulina: The emergence of a new composition

It was totally fascinating for me to watch the video that you can see below. In it, the Russian-born composer, Sophia Gubaidulina, discusses the way a new musical work emerges and is worked until she’s able to bring it to the listener.
Also included is the experience of the performer of Gubaidulina’s work. In this case it is a violin concerto, and we can get the benefit of how a master performer such as Anne-Sophie Mutter prepares the new work for the public.
While we see a Russian-born person, discuss some of these difficult aspects in German, there is a superimposed English translation which is excellent in helping us to understand… somewhat…
