Violinist Vilde Frang
As a violin player myself, I find it wonderful that so many violinists are emerging into the music scene. Yes, we have been fortunate to have Anne-Sophie Mutter, as well as Joshua Bell, Gil Shaham, Hilary Hahn and many more artists to entertain us. For the past few years, another name has been added to that list. Her name is Vilde Frang.
Vilde Frang, now 26, was awarded the 2012 Credit Suisse Young Artist Award, and she made her debut with the Vienna Philharmonic under Bernard Haitink at the 2012 Lucerne Summer Music Festival.
Noted particularly for her amazing musical expression as well as her outstanding virtuosity, Vilde Frang has established herself as one of the leading young violinists of her generation
The pairing of the Tchaikovsky and Nielsen concertos is really not unusual, because it follows a familiar commercial approach to sweeten an unknown work with one that has proven sales appeal with general listeners.
Ms. Frang shows us a style that is sensitive, with wonderful phrasing and superb virtuosity.
