Outstanding Performers:
- Tabea Zimmermann, Violist.
From time to time, I will feature music performers at my blog whom I consider to be truly outstanding. Today, I am going to tell you about my very favorite viola player: her name is Tabea Zimmermann.
I find Ms. Zimmermann’s playing to be inspired, totally musical, with amazing phrasing, and deep feeling for the music.
On this CD, Tabea Zimmermann and Kirill Gerstein recorded their new album which includes the F-minor sonata op. 120/1 by Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert’s “Arpeggione” sonata and César Franck’s sonata in A major, (arr. by Tabea Zimmermann).
The recording sessions and interviews were taped in July 2011 at Deutschlandfunk Cologne, in Germany.
German comments by the artists is translated on the screen to English.
Enjoy this wonderful music!
One can hear the joy, the passion, the commitment, and the maturity brought to this music by these two amazing artists.
