NY Philharmonic concert
Most orchestra conductors create an opportunity for key players of the orchestra to act as soloists in a variety of musical works from time to time.
New York Philharmonic conductor Alan Gilbert is no exception. On Tuesday, November 19th, several of the orchestra’s players will get this opportunity.
At this next concert, the audience will hear the New York première of Christopher Rouse’s Oboe Concerto, featuring the Philharmonic’s principal Oboe, Liang Wang;
Also on this program are Richard Strauss’ “Also Sprach Zarathustra” and “Don Juan,” both of which include major violin solos performed by Glenn Dicterow, who is serving his final season as the orchestra’s concertmaster.
