On this CD, Leonidas Kavakos joins pianist Yuja Wang to perform the three great Brahms Violin Sonatas.
Leonidas Kavakos’ third recent release makes a perfect partner to his acclaimed Brahms Violin Concerto recording with Ricardo Chailly. Ms. Wang’s amazing recording of the third piano concerto by Rachmaninov needs no introduction.
These artists will be performing these works in April at major European cities.
The three violin sonatas were written for Brahms’ good friend and performance partner, Joseph Joachim, who also gave the premiere of the Violin Concerto and contributed its cadenzas.
What a gift all of us received from Johannes Brahms: Music that is still adored and enjoyed to this day!
