Schubert: Piano Sonatas
I feel that Daniel Barenboim is one of the great pianists and conductors of our time. And this year marks a very special anniversary for this extraordinary musician: Sixty years as recording artist.
To celebrate this occasion, Deutsche Grammophon and Daniel Barenboim will release a new recording of Franz Schubert’s Piano Sonatas soon.

The sonatas are wonderful romantic music, and after recording them, Barenboim summarized:
- “Schubert’s sonatas are a revelation. The music laughs and cries, it is at the same time sad and cheerful.”
Indeed, I can hear the beauty and exhilaration of the Austrian countryside in this music. Yet also, the great sorrow of Schubert’s illness and his sort life that ended at age 31.
