Tanglewood: Closing concerts.
- Date: August 23 at 8:30 PM
If you are in the Massachusetts area, you owe it to yourself to explore the Berkshire hills, and to attend a concert that you’ll long remember:
This first of two final concerts for this season features the Boston Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Charles Dutoit.
This is a program of color-splashed pieces that conjure up the romance of Italy, with the following compositions:
- Berlioz’s “Roman Carnival” Overture.
- Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” (with pianist, Kirill Gerstein).
- Respighi’s “Roman Festivals,” “Fountains of Rome,” and “Pines of Rome.”
More details HERE:
Here is Rachmaninov’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” with Stephen Hough, piano:
And here is Mikhail Pletnev, playing the Rachmaninov Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini:
(Did you get up and dance to this delightful music?)
I sure wish I could go to this concert, but I’m too far away, in California–
