Two Violinists.
It is a gift to be an excellent teacher. Frequently, performers might be excellent in their craft, but poor as instructors.
One example of an outstanding violin teacher was Ms. Dorothy DeLay, who was the teacher of Yitzhak Perlman, Sarah Chang, Cho-Liang Lin, Nigel Kennedy, Gil Shaham, and others.
First let’s observe violinist Maxim Vengerov. He plays violin beautifully; now let’s see him as a teacher:
And next, here is Hilary Hahn, Playing the ‘Sarabande in D Minor’ by Bach.
She studied at the Curtis Institute, with Jascha Brodsky. At this point, I actually don’t know if she teaches. She’s so busy performing, that teaching will likely come later in her career.
