- The Art of Fugue.
Angela Hewitt’s recording of Bach’s ultimate masterpiece titled “The Art of Fugue” is likely to become a major achievement of her Bach cycle. This performing project has taken her all over the world and won her many dedicated fans.
Think about this: Ms. Hewitt has in fact previously completed an eleven-year project to record all the major keyboard works of Bach. This is an amazing accomplishment.
On this CD, we hear:
Bach, J S:
- The Art of Fugue, BWV1080
- Wenn wir in höchsten Nöten sein, BWV668a
Performed by Angela Hewitt (piano)
The Times wrote on the 3rd of October, 2014:
“I won’t mince words. This Art of Fugue is marvelous. The variety and beauty of tone alone make compelling listening, bringing contrasts, clarity and warmth to Bach’s intellectual marvels…Yet her fingers never make the results dry triumphs of engineering.”

And now, here is Glenn Gould, speaking on and playing “The Art of the Fugue”:
