Helene Grimaud plays Schumann and Strauss.
Back in January 2015, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Grimaud while she was completing a tour in Europe. I found her to be a totally delightful, open and expressive person. On this CD, we get to hear her in two compositions in which she shines: Schumann:

- Burleske for Piano and orchestra in D minor, AV85

It is unfortunate that the “Burleske” is not performed more frequently; this is likely the case because it is technically quite challenging. The piece represents Richard Strauss at his melodic best.
