Anne-Sophie Mutter plays Mozart.
Parents frequently entice their kids to “be good”. My sister and I were no exception. And toward the end of the work – week, we might hear our mother say “If you are good, Dad will play Mozart for you before you go to sleep”.
That’s how I came to love the music of Mozart from an early age. As a child I would hear my father practice and play the violin part of the violin and piano sonatas by Mozart.
And on occasion a pianist friend would be invited over for tea and cake on a Saturday afternoon, and then we’d hear the sonatas with participation of the second voice.
This recording by Anne-Sophie Mutter brings the old days back in a musical way. I can only marvel at the amazingly sensitive interpretation of these ancient sounds, as they are presented with Lambert Orkis, piano.
