Performed by Isabelle Faust (violin) and Alexander Melnikov (piano) Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov have already given us an acclaimed version Brahms’ First Violin Sonata, back in 2007. They now complete the cycle with the other two sonatas of 1886 and 1888 Also on this recording the artists add a fascinating rarity dating from 35 years earlier: the ‘F-A-E’ Sonata, a collaborative effort by three composers in honor of the great violinist Joachim, who had to guess who had written which movement! Joachim did so with ease, for the Scherzo is as eminently Brahmsian as the Intermezzo and Finale are Schumannesque. Here are Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov performing the Beethoven Violin Sonata #10 In G, Op. 96 https://youtu.be/f1Osr0AKQ2k And next, here are Isabelle Faust playing the Franck sonata for violin and piano: https://youtu.be/DP7ytQYwBAk Tags: Isabelle Faust, Alexander Melnikov, Cesar Franck, Beethoven, Johannes Brahms
