The St. Lawrence String quartet
PERFORMS TONIGHT in NYC.
The St. Lawrence String quartet has been the Resident Quartet at Stanford University for more than 20 years. Fortunately they also present concerts at many other venues.
For me, a concert by this quartet is always worth hearing. They are great fans of Haydn’s music, and they are great supporters of new music.
They offer a wonderful program at Zankel Hall in NYC tonight:
- Haydn’s Quartet in F Minor, Op. 20, No. 5;
- The New York première of the Second Quartet by one of the group’s most treasured collaborators, composer John Adams;
- And Beethoven’s incomparable Quartet in C-Sharp Minor, Op. 131.
