Hector Berlioz:
- ‘Harold in Italy’
Performed by Tabea Zimmermann, viola, with the Orchestre de Paris, Christoph Eschenbach conducting
While this is an orchestral composition, it features solo viola playing of the highest caliber. German Violist Tabea Zimmerman is an amazing player, and this has got to be the most impressive account of ‘Harlod In Italy’ I have ever heard.
The camera work is somewhat perplexing, and it is trying to contribute beyond what’s required for an enjoyable video.
Here is a very young Tabea Zimmermann , performing the Carl Stamitz Viola Concerto, 2º movement, Andante moderato. The maturity of a major artist is predictable from this old recording!
