The Emerson Quartet has given us interesting and enjoyable programs for many years. And the concert on May 12 promises to be no exception.
There is no doubt that artists, composers and players learn from one another. Beethoven came to Vienna in the early 1800’s because he wanted to study with Haydn. And this concert is devoted to the late Haydn quartets and the early Beethoven works of the same genre, the Op. 18. We can explore the younger composer learning from the master…
This concert brings us two of Haydn’s Op. 76 Quartets (including No. 3 in E-Flat Major, “Emperor”) together with two works from Beethoven’s Op. 18 (No. 2 in G Major and No. 6 in B-Flat Major).
