I am always filled with excitement when I listen to yet another young person who has committed herself to a life in music! Today, let me tell you about violinist Francesca Dego. She is 28 years old.
Born in Lecco, Italy of Italian and American parents, Francesca gave her concerto début in California at the age of 7 and in Italy aged 14 with the Beethoven Concerto. At 15 she performed the Brahms concerto at Milan’s Sala Verdi, and the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante at Tel Aviv Opera House with Shlomo Mintz.
Regularly appearing with some of the world’s leading orchestras, recent highlights include her débuts with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Grosses Orchester Graz, and performances with Teatro Colon Orchestra of Buenos Aires and Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo.
The very first composition that I heard her perform earlier today was the amazingly difficult Chaconne solo Sonata by Johann Sebastian Bach:
I loved this performance! And in my view, we will hopefully hear much more from her…
