Pianist Albert Cano Smit was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1996. He studied at the Montserrat Abbey Music School with Vicenç Prunés. He currently pursues a Bachelor at the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles with Ory Shihor.
He won the first prize at the 2014 Beethoven Piano Society of Europe and the 2015 Eugenia Verdet international competitions. He was a semifinalist at the 2015 Paloma O’Shea Piano Competition and a medalist at the 2016 Hilton Head Piano Competition.
Albert Smit has performed as a soloist at the Westminster Cathedral, collaborated with various orchestras and also performed with Andrej Bielow, the Gerhard Quartet, and Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
