My musical education has brought me the awareness that performing the music of Fritz Kreisler requires a special feeling and special training. Even a giant violinist as Yehudi Menuhin (1916-1999) went to study with Fritz Kreisler himself to learn the style required to play Kreisler’s compositions.
It is hard to explain. the music requires a certain grace, a type of elegance, a seeming effortless style that is so common to Viennese music.
Here is a violinist who impressed me recently as having an understanding of this style. When I did some research I found that she attended the Juilliard School, and undoubtedly had an excellent teacher there. Let me demonstrate as Ms. Bomsori Kim plays “Schoen Rosmarin”:
