Periodically we devote a new post to the introduction of an impressive artist who is just beginning what is likely to be an impressive music career.
Early this morning I had the opportunity to listen to violinist Yesong Sophie Lee as she played the Romance #2 for Violin and Orchestra by Beethoven. At age 17 I found her playing to be expressive, mature, lyrical, and assured.
Since winning the Menuhin Competition, she has appeared with London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, Berlin’s Konzerthaus Orchestra, and made a recital tour of the UK in 2016. The following spring, Ms. Lee performed a recital at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival in Switzerland, and participated in the final concert of the Violin Master Classes at the Kronberg Academy in Germany.
More recently her successes included performing the Bach Double Concerto with Joshua Bell and the Richmond Symphony, soloing with the Orchestra de la Suisse Romande in Switzerland, and giving a recital in Geneva.
