For this solo recital, Christiane Karg, alongside her faithful partner Malcolm Martineau, presents an incursion into the most intimate aspect of Mahler’s music. The songs from ‘Des Knaben Wunderhorn’ take us to the heart of the composer’s creative process, as do the songs from his youth and the later ‘Ruckert-Lieder’.
Christiane Karg was born in Feuchtwangen, Bavaria. She studied singing at the Salzburg Mozarteum with Heiner Hopfner and Wolfgang Holzmair, where she was awarded the Lilli Lehmann Medal. During her studies she made her highly acclaimed debut at the Salzburg Festival and has been a welcome guest there ever since.
