Franz Schubert composed many “Lieder” that were scored for voice with piano accompaniment. Much later, some of these songs were arranged for various combinations of instruments.
In today’s post we feature the artistry of violinist Gil Shaham, and he is supported by guitarist Goeran Sollscher.
The song is called “Standchen” or alternatively “Serenade”. The song expresses the love which the poet feels toward his beloved. The words begins with “Leise flehen meine Lieder…”. Translated from the German we get “Quietly, my songs are transported to you, my love…”
Mr. Shaham’s violin sounds are warm and lovely as he can do so well. And the guitar accompaniment is truly excellent.
