Whenever I hear Paganini’s Moto Perpetuo (perpetual motion) I experience a sense of nostalgia. Back in 1950, I spent a year in Vienna, and I studied violin with Professor Aurel Nemesz. I can look back today at that time and have an awareness that I reached my best level of violin technique and musicianship during that time.
During my time in Vienna I was invited to participate in a radio broadcast when I played a violin sonata by Nicollo Paganini.
After my parents moved to the US a year later, I was caught up in learning English, studying at three different High Schools, so I can say today that my focus on violin playing declined.
Here is a giant in the violin history, Yehudi Menuhin, playing Paganini’s Moto Perpetuo for you. (The pianist seems downright bored by his role)
