A few days ago, pianist Menachem Pressler celebrated his 99th birthday. He was born on December 16, 1923.
Much of Mr. Pressler’s family was killed by the Nazi’s. Mr. Pressler survived, lived in Palestine for a while and later moved to the US, where he was a distinguished Professor of Music at Indiana University.
Many years ago I heard him play chamber music with the Beaux Arts Trio at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco.
