The St. Lawrence String Quartet (SLSQ) was established many years ago in Toronto, Canada. In 1998 they joined the Stanford faculty, and the SLSQ has drawn praise since its inception for the intensity of its performances, its breadth of repertoire and its commitment to community building through music and education.
My home is quite close to the Stanford University campus, and for many years prior to COVID I had great pleasure from my attendance at concerts of this excellent string quartet.
Then, not long ago, Mr. Geoff Nuttal, who led the group as its violinist died suddenly. I am still hoping that the rest of the quartet will not disband. Hopefully they will succeed in locating a violinist who will bring honor to Mr. Nuttal’s memory.
