Antonin Dvorak:
- Piano Trios Nos. 3 & 4
At many points in the past, I was successful in connecting with other folks who loved music, and who — like me — played instruments. I started to learn to play violin at age 7. And later, I always enjoyed playing either the violin/piano repertoire, or the piano trio works by Mozart, Schumann, Beethoven, Dvorak, and Schubert.
Here are a few memorable works, from my Spotify playlist called “Hank’s piano trios”:
On this CD, we get to meet a fine trio who allow us to hear the following works that they perform:
Dvorak:
- Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65 (B130)
- Piano Trio No. 4 in E minor, Op. 90 (B166) ‘Dumky’
Performed by Trio Solisti
This CD presents wonderful readings of two of the finest compositions in the chamber music repertoire.
The New Yorker magazine recently called the Trio Solisti “the most exciting piano trio in America”.
Here are the members of the Beaux Arts Trio playing the Dvorak “Dumky” Trio:
And next, I have for you three celebrated players doing one of my very favorites: W.A. MOZART: Trio for Piano, Violin & Cello K502
