Vladimir Feltsman.

Haydn:

  • Keyboard Sonatas

Pianist Vladimir Feltsman is one of the most versatile and interesting musicians of our time. I met him once at a visit to the Aspen Music Festival, and he was very kind to devote some time to talking with me about J. S. Bach. That occasion was shortly before he gave an amazing performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations.

Feltsman’s repertoire encompasses music from the Baroque to 20th-century composers. He is a regular guest soloist with leading symphony orchestras in the United States and abroad, and he appears in the most prestigious concert series and music festivals all over the world.

This CD is devoted to the music of Joseph Haydn, who exhibited amazing originality and especially great humor when his music was composed in the late 1700’s.

We get to hear the following works:

Haydn:

  • Piano Sonata No. 31 in A flat major, Hob.XVI:46
  • Piano Sonata No. 53 in E minor, Hob.XVI:34
  • Piano Sonata No. 59 in E flat major, Hob.XVI:49
  • Piano Sonata No. 33 in C minor, Hob.XVI:20
  • Piano Sonata No. 58 in C major, Hob.XVI:48
  • Piano Sonata No. 52 in G major, Hob.XVI:39
  • Piano Sonata No. 34 in D major, Hob.XVI:33
  • Piano Sonata No. 32 in G minor, Hob.XVI:44
  • Arietta con 12 variazioni in E flat major, Hob.XVII/3
