Conductor Andris Nelsons, will become the chief conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra this fall, and he will make two highly anticipated appearances with this ensemble this week.
On Saturday, July 19th at 8:30 PM he collaborates with the trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger in “Bridge,” a trumpet concerto by the prominent Swedish composer Rolf Martinsson, on a program that also features music by Brahms (the Third Symphony) and Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien.
On Sunday afternoon, July 20 at 2:30 PM, he leads the orchestra in works by Christopher Rouse, the “Symphonie Espagnole” by Lalo with the violinist Joshua Bell, and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
