Rare Appearance!
I have enjoyed my own participation in chamber music performance for many years. And naturally I have also developed a definite opinion about many professional groups of players, as it related to their interpretive excellence.
One of the all-time great groups, in my view, Is Austria’s Hagen Quartet. This group is composed of first violinist Lukas Hagen, his sister, Veronica Hagen, viola, and another brother, Clemens, who plays Cello. They are joined by German-born violin player, Rainer Schmidt.
I have admired the amazing work of this group, and I was also disappointed in that they rarely appeared in California, other than an occasional concert in Berkeley.
But this year is different: On November 2, 2014, the Hagen Quartet will give a concert in Carmel, California, at the Sunset Center.
