- Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21, with Orchestre de Paris, Paavo Järvi conducting.
- Mazurka No. 13 in A minor, Op. 17 No. 4

This album marks Khatia Buniatishvili’s debut performance on CD of the piano concerto #2 by Chopin. The concerto performance is augmented by additional solo Chopin compositions to add wonderful variety to this recording.
Khatia Buniatishvili is 24 years old, and this Russian-born pianist has already achieved an exceptional maturity of interpretation and a distinctive artistic approach to her music.
In the current season she is giving concerts at Vienna’s Musikverein and Konzerthaus. Also coming soon are recitals in Berlin, Amsterdam, and Paris, as well as at the Wigmore Hall in London.
Ms. Buniatishvili plays Chopin’s Waltz in C-sharp minor with lovely musical sensitivity, and a very light touch.
Then she performs the “Funeral March” Sonata. It is approached as tenderly as the waltz, with lyrical passages interpreted quite beautifully.
