Danielle de Niese!
As an actress in Opera or musical theater, Danielle de Niese shows us her enchanting personality and her strong, attractive acting skills. As a singer, she has to compete with the likes of Fleming, Bartoli and others; and my sense is that the quality of her voice – while enjoyable to me – is not uniquely identifiable because of its particular quality. Still, the collection of Mozart arias done here by Danielle de Niese with Sir Charles Mackerras are really wonderful, and allow any listener to recall seeing the entire Mozart Opera s/he may have previously seen.
