I listened to pianist Irene Veneziano for the first time today, and I loved her playing!
Irene Veneziano is a graduate of the Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. She also has a degree in chamber music.
She is a prize-winner of competitions held in Italy, Switzerland and the United States, including first prizes in the Premio Nazionale delle Arti (Turin) and the Premio Doplicher (Milan), both in 2009. She has performed in Europe and Asia.
In 2011, she performed in the ‘Chopin and his Europe’ festival in Warsaw.
One of the aspects of her playing that I admire most is her courage in creating space between the notes. She is not afraid of silence, and it adds drama to her performances.
