Kissin!
It has been a while since I listened attentively to Evgeny Kissin. However, I mended my way early this morning: I heard him play the following:
Gluck: Melody From Orfeo:
We have here a young man of 19; Watch his hands: There are still some signs of a child’s hands, really. But what sensitivity and what emotion we hear! So let’s dispense with the words and hear some more…
The following contains some biographical material and some music:
And now for Evgeny Kissin performing Chopin’s Piano concerto No.2 Op.21:
And finally here’s Kissin performing Beethoven:
- Concerto for piano and orchestra no 1 in C major, op.15
- Verbier Festival Orchestra, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen
Almost an hour of music in this video, including a bunch of encores!

Here we go again Hank!!!! I was just listening to his performance of the Rach 2 on You tube yesterday. Just sublime!! The only other pianist who can consistantly make me weep is Lilya Zilberstein. Do you know of her? As always thank you for your most timely and sensitive posts. Roberta
