Janine Jansen
Violinist Janine Jansen is one of my favorite performers because she is so expressive, and because she delights in showing us her emotions about each piece of music that she performs.
After all, music is about the expression of the composer’s feelings about something: this may be joy, it may be grief about a loss (example Brahms’ loss of his mother as expressed in the German Requiem), and so on.
As such, when performers have not yet mastered an ability to express musical feelings, they still have work to do.
In my view, Ms. Jansen does this very well.
